2026 NSSC Scintillator Summer School

The NSSC Scintillator Summer School is a program focusing on scintillation radiation detectors and hosted by the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT); Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL); the University of California, Berkeley (UCB); and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK). Participants will travel to ORNL/UTK to learn from subject matter experts on the fundamentals of scintillation (both organic and inorganic materials), hear about cutting-edge applications, make their own scintillators, and perform characterization measurements. In addition to the technical content, students will network with ORNL staff, tour some of the world-class ORNL facilities, and learn about available career opportunities.
