Computing and Optimization in Nuclear Applications is a crosscutting area for all aspects of nuclear security.

Computing and Optimization in Nuclear Applications (CONA) is vital to nuclear security, and advancing R&D in high-performance computing is essential to meeting DNN R&D mission needs. As such, cutting-edge computational tools, AI/ML methods, data analytics, uncertainty quantification, and sensitivity analyses are crucial. NSSC will partner with National Lab scientists to train students in CONA, equipping them with expertise and providing access to NNSA’s advanced computing facilities, including exascale machines, to drive scientific discovery and develop next-generation algorithms for nuclear security and nonproliferation systems.
