A major purpose of the NSSC is education, training, and professional development for students and postdoctoral scholars in the areas of nuclear science, technology, and policy. This crosscutting educational platform underlies the research and training activities of the Consortium and supports the DNN goal of moving talented researchers towards careers in the DOE National Labs and other U.S. government agencies with nuclear missions. Through a proven approach, our consortium combines national lab internships and rotations, summer schools, workshops, seminars, and professional development training with the goal of producing leaders in the field, with a solid science and engineering foundation and a broad perspective on nuclear security issues.
