NSSC Hosts 2023 University Program Review

The Nuclear Science and Security Consortium hosted a successful annual University Program Review (UPR) meeting on June 6-8, 20223, in Berkeley, CA. The meeting was hosted in-person at the ASUC Student Union on the University of California Berkeley campus. This annual review provides a venue for students and collaborating scientists to showcase their research and allow programmatic oversight and technical interchange between student researchers, National Laboratories, and government research managers.

The UPR meeting welcomed 4 Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation Research and Development (DNN R&D)-funded consortia, Nuclear Science and Security Consortium (NSSC), Consortium for Monitoring, Technology, and Verification (MTV), Enabling Technologies & Innovation (ETI), and the Consortium for Nuclear Forensics (CNF). The 2023 UPR meeting assembled 276 participants, including faculty and students from ~30 universities, scientists from national labs and representatives from multiple government agencies. The NSSC also hosted Deputy Administrator, Corey Hinderstein, during the welcoming ceremony on the first day of the annual meeting.

One June 8th, three NSSC students were given best presentation awards:

Jenna Garcia, “Best Oral Presentation”
Benjamin Walusiak, “Best National Laboratory Collaboration”
Dominic Lioce, “Best Poster Presentation”
