NSSC 2025 Summer Laboratory Internships

The NSSC offers an eight-week internship program at each of our partner laboratories, where scholars work directly with lab scientists on research in nuclear science and security. Participants gain hands-on experience in implementing research methodologies, conducting laboratory work, and presenting their findings. Additionally, the NSSC provides year-round engagements and in-residence research opportunities across all five partner labs.
At LANL, research internships are made available through the NSSC-LANL Keepin Nonproliferation Science Summer Program, which also features an enrichment series with lectures and tours that integrate nuclear security science, technology, and policy. At ORNL, supplementary programming such as lunch-and-learn sessions and facility tours are also made available to scholars. At LLNL, expanded opportunities for summer interns include social networking events, seminars, and facility tours.
