Public Policy and Nuclear Threats (PPNT) Bootcamp: The summer workshop-in-residence at UC San Diego, known as the Public Policy and Nuclear Threats (PPNT) Boot Camp, gives participants the knowledge and analytic tools they need to contribute to the debate on future U.S. nuclear policy. The boot camp features lectures, discussions, debates, and policy simulations. Participants attend talks by distinguished researchers, academics, policy officials, and operational specialists from leading universities, the National Laboratories, international organizations, and government agencies, on topics ranging from current nuclear threats, international safeguards, and nonproliferation strategies. The course is part of long-standing IGCC work on nuclear policy issues and will take place at the University of California San Diego from July 7 – 17, 2024. More information here.

2024 NSSC-LLNL Nuclear Security and Nonproliferation Summer School: The 2024 NSSC-LLNL Summer School will feature lectures and hands-on experimental modules covering various aspects of nuclear risk reduction. Scholars will form teams to engage in hands-on experimental modules aimed at tackling challenges in warhead verification, emergency response, and nuclear forensics. The NSSC-LLNL Summer School will be held at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory from June 11-14, 2024. This workshop will also include tours and a poster session where scholars will have an opportunity to present their work and connect with LLNL scientists from across the laboratory! Nuclear Inspector School at LANL: The Fundamentals of Non-Destructive Assay (NDA) for Keepin Nonproliferation Science Summer Program is an introduction to nondestructive assay (NDA) measurement techniques that are used for nuclear material accountancy by the IAEA or within a SSAC. The course will include lectures and a number of hands-on exercises in LANL’s training facility, leveraging the exemplary expertise and resources that are also used to instruct IAEA inspectors in NDA principles each year. Nuclear Science Summer School at FRIB: The Nuclear Science Summer School (NS3) is a summer school that introduces undergraduate student participants to the fields of nuclear science and nuclear astrophysics. NS3 is hosted by the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) on the campus of Michigan State University. The school will offer lectures and activities covering selected nuclear science and astrophysics topics. The NS3 will be held at Michigan State University from May 12-18, 2024. More info here.
