Education in Nuclear Science, Technology and Policy

A major purpose of the NSSC is education, training, and experience for students and postdoctoral scholars in the areas of nuclear science, technology, and policy. This crosscutting educational platform underlies the research and training activities of the Consortium and supports the congressional goals of the IUP to maintain and enhance long-term U.S. capabilities in nuclear science and engineering through investments that foster the career growth of future professionals. To develop well-rounded scientists ready to meet the nation’s nuclear security needs, our consortium combines national lab mentorship, classroom-based and online learning, national laboratory internships, workshops, and summer schools with the goal of producing students with a solid science and engineering foundation and a broad perspective on nuclear security issues.
