Nuclear Security Course: Lectures Available for Viewing!

Nuclear Security: The Nexus Between Policy and Technology is a course sponsored by the Nuclear Science and Security Consortium, and jointly offered through the Goldman School of Public Policy and the Department of Nuclear Engineering at UC Berkeley. Led by Prof. Michael Nacht, the purpose of this course is to educate students on the policy roots and technological foundations of nuclear energy and nuclear weapons. The course reviews the origins and evolution of nuclear energy, how it has been applied for both peaceful and military purposes, and the current and prospective challenges it presents.

Now Hiring: NSSC Program Manager

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) has awarded $25 million to the University of California, Berkeley to lead the Nuclear Science and Security Consortium (NSSC) for an additional five years. This multi-institution consortium will support the nation’s nuclear non-proliferation mission through the training and education of experts in the nuclear security field.

A position is open for a Program Manager to support the NSSC within the Department of Nuclear Engineering. Supporting the faculty, visiting faculty/researchers, post-docs, graduate and undergraduate students, the incumbent works with a great deal of autonomy and discretion performing an extremely broad range of high level duties which include financial management and analysis, student fellowship management, purchasing, laboratory safety, personnel and other high level administrative duties as needed.
