NPWG Spring 2022 Keynote

Posted by:

NPWG Virtual Keynote Event March 28th 2022 @ 5:40p Pacific: Dr Herbert Lin on Cyber Threats and Nuclear WeaponsThe technology controlling United States nuclear weapons predates the Internet. Updating the technology for the digital era is necessary, but it comes with the risk that anything digital can be hacked. Moreover, using new systems for both nuclear and non-nuclear operations will lead to levels of nuclear risk hardly imagined before. Join the Nuclear Policy Working Group at Berkeley for a lecture by Dr. Herbert Lin on March 28th 2022 at 5:40p Pacific on his recent book Cyber Threats and Nuclear Weapons, where Dr. Lin breaks down the cyber risks to the U.S. nuclear enterprise. Attendance is open to all, but requires registration (click the link or copy and paste bit.ly/NPWG-keynote-RSVP in your browser).  More information on the event, and on the Nuclear Policy Working Group, is available at our website.

LLNL’s Foster and Brown Postdoctoral Fellowships

Posted by:

LLNL has posted two new positions for consideration by PhD candidates – the John S. Foster, Jr. and the Harold Brown Postdoctoral Fellowships. These are Design Physics Fellowships in the Weapons and Complex Integration (WCI) Directorate and recognize individuals whose research interests align with the Laboratory’s national security mission. We were wondering if you might encourage your PhD students or early researchers to apply.

Information on these opportunities is at https://wci.llnl.gov/careers/postdocs/design-physics-fellowships. Applicants are in the process of completing their PhD (within about one year) or have received their Ph.D. Application deadline is October 1, 2021.
