NSSC Student, Dinara Ermakova, attended the COP27 conference in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, advocating for nuclear energy. She was featured in a New York Times article on November 11, 2022 and also participated in the panel on Nuclear Climate and Development with the Director General of IAEA Rafael Mariano Grossi.
Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is seeking a Nuclear Security Technologies Program Manager with deep technical and programmatic knowledge of nuclear security programs, with an emphasis on nonproliferation programs to join the Office of National and Homeland Security (ONHS). ONHS acts as the interface between Berkeley Lab and the nation’s security agencies, which include the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, DOE’s National Nuclear Security Administration, and the intelligence community.

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) honored Dr. Yassin Hassan with the 2022 Fluids Engineering Award at the Fluids Engineering Division Summer Meeting (FEDSM) in Toronto for his outstanding contributions to the engineering profession and the field of fluids engineering.
Hassan is a University Distinguished Professor, Regents Professor and L.F. Peterson ’36 Chair II Professor in the Department of Nuclear Engineering and the J. Mike Walker ‘66 Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University. He is also director of the Center for Advanced Small Modular and Microreactors and a member of the National Academy of Engineering.
